First time adult applicants
With a view to preventing identity theft and the circulation of falsified passports, additional safeguards are being introduced into the passport application procedure for adult first time applicants. With effect from 17 January 2011 , First time adult applicants in these categories will be required to submit the following additional evidence in support of their passport application:
- Complete APS 2 E form , Section 9 to be witnessed by an appropriate person. Please complete this form in BLOCK CAPITAL using a ballpoint pen in BLACK INK . Stay within the text boxes.
- 4 passport size photographs with a white backfround, two of which must be signed and stamped by a witness the same as Section 9 on the application form.
- The applicant's original current passport
- The Original long form birth certificate of the applicant and a civil marriage certificate, if appropriate, and evidence of entitlement to Irish citizenship, (where applicable) i.e. 1)Original long form birth certificate AND original passports of the Irish parent and original passport of non-Irish parent. 2)The parents' original civil marriage certificate with an English translation which was translated by a Professional Translator (If the parents are not married, please provide a short letter to confirm this)
- Additional form of photo-identification ; e.g. copy of drivers licence, work ID; student card; social club membership; passport from other country etc.
- Documentary evidence to show use of name , e.g. payslips; records of unemployment or disability payment; bank statement; college registration etc.
- Evidence of residency at the application address, e.g. utility bills; official correspondence from public or private sector etc.
Born to parent who was born in Ireland
If born outside Ireland and has a grandparent who was born in Ireland, must first apply for Foreign Birth Registration (FBR)
